Moving for Life
This low-impact dance exercise class combines elements of aerobics, cardio, stretching and yoga to address the needs of those dealing with various health and physical challenges such as breast cancer, heart disease and joint pain in a fun and safe way. This work has been scientifically proven help improve one’s health. All abilities are welcome and can be done standing or seated.
Experience the ab-chiseling, total body defining moves of Pilates, choreographed to your favorite Top 40 hits. Create by YouTube fitness star Cassey Ho, this dance on a mat-based workout challenges you to flow from one exercise to the next, developing a rock-solid core and lean, strong muscles. Participants must be comfortable being on their knees.
Zumba Fitness fuses international rhythms with easy-to-follow dance moves. The result? A fun and effective fitness class that feels more like a night out dancing than a workout at the gym. Party yourself into shape with dance moves inspired by Latin styles such as mambo, cha-cha-cha and salsa, as well as belly dance, swing and more.
Zumba Toning fuses the Latin-inspired dance fitness class that you love featuring your favorites moves such as mambo, cha-cha-cha and salsa with the added challenge of light weight resistance training by using Zumba Toning Sticks. This enhances your sense of rhythm and coordination, while targeting specific muscle groups of the arms, core and lower body.
Dance to Wellness (DTW) Wellness Talks series provides interactive lectures that educate and informs the public of various health issues while also providing a number of exercise tips and strategies to help have a greater awareness and personal control over their health status. Hearted- Heart Health:
The heart is the single most important organ of the body. Therefore, it is important to know how to best take care of our hearts. In this workshop, participants will understand what is heart disease, what can cause heart disease, how to recognize the symptoms of a cardiac emergency (ie. heart attack), and what kinds of exercise formats and programs are best for one managing cardiac conditions.
We live in times where people are often stressed out from various things in our lives such as personal finances, jobs, family relations or the illness of yourself/a close loved one. In this workshop, participants will have a better understanding of what is stress, how stress can affect our bodies and different types of exercise techniques that can ease the affects of stress on our physical and mental health.
A Happy and Healthy Spine:
The spine serves as the information highway to and from the brain. However, did you know that a misalignment of the spine can be attributed to other pains and injuries we feel throughout our body? In this workshop, participants will become aware of different spinal and postural misalignments, how these misalignments can affect other parts of our body and some stretches and exercise that can improve our posture.
Remedies for Joint Pain and Stiffness:
There are currently over 50 million people dealing with arthritis and joint pain. Although there is no cure for arthritis, there are ways to help manage and ease the pain associated with joint stiffness. In this workshop, participants will have an understanding of what is arthritis, what areas of the body are commonly affected by joint pain, the benefits of movement in joint pain management and some exercise tips to consider.
